Beacon is currently seeking a Senior Healthcare Data Analyst to join our team at our Downtown Boston office.

The Senior Healthcare Data Analyst within the Analytic Innovation Center performs in depth analyses exploring population health outcomes, quality of care, utilization and costs, as well as assessments of impacts of specific changes in interventions, products, policies or legislation.  The Senior Healthcare Analyst is responsible for building the datasets, coding the outcomes, performing statistical comparisons and presenting insights to clinical, network and regional business partners and executives.  These analyses utilize in house claims or case management data, as well as medical and pharmacy claims, public, vendor or other data sources.  The individual will be expected to lead the design and execution of datasets, analytic plans and dashboards to conduct analyses to support cross functional teams.  This individual is also responsible for easily communicating complex analytic findings and conclusions to business partners and executives who may not have a technical background.

What does a typical day look like?

Understand business partners’ goals regarding population health management, health and economic outcomes, quality of healthcare, and product design. Determine requirements and design analyses to drive insights for their decision making.

Extract, analyze, and interpret healthcare utilization and financial data per analytic plan utilizing software for data analysis, extraction, and manipulation (e.g. SAS, SQL), data visualization (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI) and analytic automation (e.g. scripting, macros).

Appropriately QA and document processes and findings.

Design and conduct evaluation studies to assess effectiveness of initiatives and new products.

Present findings in best manner for end user- interactive dashboards, story boards or slide decks. Tell the story of the analysis and findings.

Effectively establish and maintain working relationships.

Serve as subject matter expert on one or more data and business areas.

Assist in developing long-term plans that will meet the analytical needs of the organization, and assist leadership in identifying opportunities to utilize data for better decision making.

As an experienced coder and analyst, train and mentor junior analytic staff members in best practices and analytic approaches.

What you Contribute?


  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • Graduate degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Epidemiology, Economics, Analytics, Public Health or related analytical discipline preferred

Work Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in Healthcare Data Analytics

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

SAS, R or similar stats and modeling language
Tableau, PowerBi or similar dashboarding
SQL, SAS or similar querying language
MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project)
Analytical and problem-solving ability
Collaboration and team-oriented work philosophy
