The Perception, Planning, & Decision Systems group in General Motors R&D has an opening for a graduate student intern for Summer 2021, working on developing adversarially robust deep learning models for autonomous vehicles.

Description

The safety-critical nature of autonomous driving, along with the complex and uncertain environments in which autonomous vehicles operate, require machine learning systems which can generalize in a robust way to unfamiliar situations.  Handling these unexpected situations becomes even more difficult when they arise because an adversary is manipulating the input to a machine learning algorithm.  This internship will focus on the investigation of deep learning models for autonomous vehicles which are robust to adversarially modified inputs.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Currently pursuing a graduate degree in an appropriate field
  • Familiarity with a commonly used deep learning framework

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with basic concepts of cybersecurity or adversarial AI
