The world-renowned R&D teams at Xerox PARC have been developing new technologies designed to address many of the most complex and hard-to-solve challenges in the Cleantech sector.  The Mechanical Design Engineer for Cleantech is a newly created role that will work closely with the VP and Head of the Cleantech Business Unit and the R&D team at PARC to bridge novel technologies into productization in Xerox’s new Cleantech Business. 
This role offers a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of innovation for Cleantech solutions and be a part of creating and launching cutting edge technology. 

 

Responsibilities 
Participate with the mechanical design and build of a novel HVAC product, including system-level and component-level design 
Work with component and system owners to design overall product package 
Evaluate and improve designs for manufacturability and reliability 
Design and build non-production parts as needed, including test fixtures, tools, and jigs 
Coordinating with different design groups to address changes affecting multiple aspects of a system 
Summarizing and presenting findings to promote changes to design and/or process workflow 
Producing solid models and engineering drawings 
Managing revision control of product CAD data 
Manage suppliers to quote, build, and evaluate prototype and production parts 
Basic fabrication, machining, debugging, and parts chasing 
Participate in Failure Modes and Effects Analysis 
Develop novel engineering processes and procedures 
Develop and document procedures and assembly instructions 

Qualifications 
BS in Mechanical Engineering or directly adjacent field of study 
>10 years experience in mechanical design and design for manufacturing 
Strong CAD skills (SolidWorks preferred) 
Strong critical thinking skills: ability to deep dive into cause-effect and complex diagnostics 
Demonstrated history of hands-on experience in design/build 
New product introduction experience 
Knowledgeable in common manufacturing processes, including metal forming, injection molding, machining, welding, etc 
Structured problem solving skills leveraging inputs such as functional documentation (P&ID diagrams, mechanical drawings) 
Controls and DAQ experience
