There are two Business Intelligence Analyst positions available: One at an intermediate level and the other at a senior level. Applicants who apply will be considered for either the Intermediate or Senior level.

To be considered for these positions, you must be eligible to work in the United States without requiring university sponsorship for continued employment. 

Note: While work arrangements are flexible with regard to work location, all new employees are expected to be in commutable distance to campus, unless shared otherwise in the job posting. These positions will be primarily remote with occasional onsite work.

 
Summary
 

The Business Intelligence Analysts will work closely with the Development Community to assist and support the comprehensive fund-raising campaign of the University of Michigan through reporting and data quality analysis. You will assist in the creation, maintenance and dissemination of ad hoc reports and dashboards for the Development community with focus on biographical information, fundraising data integrity, and fundraising revenue reporting.

 

You will work in an environment dedicated to advancing the mission of the Office of University Development (OUD) and the University. You will build positive and meaningful relationships with co-workers and our customers.

As a member of the Integrated Data Services team, you will ensure the health of the data in the Donor and Alumni Relationship Tool (DART) used by the U-M Development Community.

Responsibilities*
 

Operational – Team

Strategically develop, modify, test, document and implement queries and data visualizations in SQL Server, Business Objects, DART Query tool and Tableau to extract data and support reporting requests. Independently complete university level projects (Regents Reporting with data management process), develop new initiatives (Campaign Constituencies), and build and maintain community-wide dashboards (MyFundraiser+).
Manage and/or administer the design and development of data structures and data extracts to support comprehensive data collection, loading, and extraction for complex analyses.
Operational – Customer Support

Provide analytical and technical consulting to a variety of end-users, technical staff and vendors; resolution of complex data or application problems.
Works with business partners to gather and understand functional requirements for use of constituent data to develop data oriented solutions.
 
Required Qualifications*
 

Senior level:

Bachelor’s degree in business information systems, computer science, statistics, or math (or equivalent professional experience).
5+ years of related experience working with information systems (SQL Server, MySQL or Oracle databases).
Advanced knowledge of tools such as Tableau, Business Objects or Excel to display data according to industry best practices.
Maintain confidentiality with sensitive data.

Intermediate level:

Bachelor’s degree in business information systems, computer science, statistics, or math (or equivalent professional experience).
3+ years of experience as a data analyst, business systems analyst or similar experience.
Experience with Tableau, SAP Business Objects, or other data visualization and reporting software
Working knowledge of SQL, Microsoft SQL, Visual Basic, and database concepts (relational databases, data dictionaries, data standards, and metadata management)
Working knowledge of business productivity tools including ability to perform complex functions and macros in Excel and Google spreadsheets.

Underfill Statement
 

These positions will be filled at the Senior and Intermediate level depending upon the qualifications of the selected candidate. Please note the salary range for each title:

Senior: $75,000 – $80,000
Intermediate: $65,000 – $70,000
