Canada Research Chair (Tier 2) Data Analytics for Exercise, Mobility and Health
The Faculty of Health Sciences and the Faculty of Science at Western University invite applications for a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Data Analytics for Exercise, Mobility and Health at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, Probationary (tenure-track). Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will have demonstrated a passion for studying the impact of physically active lifestyles and/or expertise on broadly defined health outcomes. They will have methodological expertise in techniques which may include, but are not limited to, machine learning, mHealth, internet of things data acquisition and analysis, mathematical modelling, or advanced statistical analysis.
The successful candidate will hold a PhD with advanced background in Kinesiology, Rehabilitation Sciences, or Neurosciences, and/or in a quantitative discipline such as Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Statistics and will be appointed either in the School of Kinesiology or jointly between Kinesiology and a department of the Faculty of Science such as Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or Statistical & Actuarial Sciences. The successful candidate’s research interests will be supported by a record of external funding, publications in field-specific journals, and national/international exposure through invited lectures and/or conference symposia as appropriate for their discipline and career stage. Evidence of research leadership potential would be beneficial. In short, the successful candidate will be an emerging researcher with demonstrated research activity and creativity, acknowledged by peers as possessing the potential to achieve international recognition and to lead in their field in the next five to ten years, and possess the potential to attract and develop excellent trainees, students, and future researchers.
The Chairholder will be expected to contribute towards growing collaborations among researchers and resources within the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Faculty of Science. The Chairholder may benefit from existing, and developing, interactions with world-class programs of research and outreach such as the Canadian Centre for Activity and Aging (http://www.uwo.ca/ccaa/), the Bone and Joint Institute (http://boneandjoint.uwo.ca/), the Brain and Mind Institute (http://www.uwo.ca/bmi/) and BrainsCAN initiative (http://www.uwo.ca/brainscan/), and the Parkwood Institute Research (https://www.lawsonresearch.ca/research-theme/parkwood-institute-research). Our researchers are supported by world-class facilities and infrastructure including the computational capacity in SHARCNET (www.sharcnet.ca) and the Southern Ontario Smart Computing Innovation Platform (www.soscip.org). The Chairholder will be eligible to apply for infrastructure support from the Canada Foundation for Innovation to help acquire essential state-of-the-art equipment.

The selected candidate will be nominated by The University of Western Ontario to apply for the Tier 2 CRC in Data Analytics for Exercise, Mobility and Health. This academic appointment is conditional upon the successful award of the CRC Tier 2 to the candidate.
