Berthine Nyunga is currently completing a Master’s program at the African Masters of Machine Intelligence (AMMI), Ghana. Before joining AMMI, she completed a joint masters program in Mathematical science between Stellenbosch University and the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS - South Africa). She also holds a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics from the University of Kinshasa. To acquire knowledge in business management and how to apply her academic learning into the industry, Berthine also completed the industry immersion program offered by ESMT Berlin and AIMS - South Africa. She is a recipient of several awards and grants including the Mastercard Foundation scholars grant, Google and Facebook scholarship and the ESMT Berlin scholarship. As a machine learning researcher, she is a co-founder of IVIA-AF, an association for the vulgarization of the Artificial intelligence in Africa for Francophone countries. Currently, her research interest lies in the applications of machine learning techniques in the development of accurate financial risk models with Professor Jules SADEFO KAMDEM from the University of Montpellier.
