SaaS company providing workforce analytics

I have an immediate opening for an Analyst on my team (possibly more than one) who is interested in becoming a data scientist, but is not one yet. They do not have to be in the NYC area, but do need to be in the US and not require visa sponsorship to work.

Synopsis: Analysts are the backbone of our service delivery to SaaS customers, as well as data factory work. They spend much of their time focused on data analysis and resulting deliverables for customers in their assigned customer portfolio. The rest of their time is spent on ad-hoc data or analysis projects (e.g., learning to test a machine-learning model in our proprietary application, writing python scripts to make an analysis more efficient, querying data from the database to provide insights to the sales team). Brightfield is a small and innovative company, so it is an exciting place to work. I learn something new at least once a week!

Technical skills:

  • Must have moderate programming ability, preferably in python; this means you likely code in an IDE, you can create a function for anything you do more than once, and can find bugs in simple scripts
  • Familiarity with version control (we use gitlab)
  • At least beginner level SQL skills, preferably MySQL
  • Must be generally technical and interested in gaining new technical skills
  • Must be highly proficient in use of Excel (e.g., vlookup, pivot tables)
  • Have a basic understanding of data science and interest in learning more
  • Formal statistics training is a plus
  • Experience with Tableau or Sisense are a plus
  • Familiarity with machine learning algorithms a plus

Other skills:

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to manage time to work on multiple projects at once, sometimes with competing deadlines
  • Excel at working in a collaborative team environment (~10 analysts total)
  • Work well under pressure, as priorities can sometimes shift with little notice
  • Some interest in working directly with customers (via phone/video)
  • Interest in workforce analytics/HR analytics a plus
  • Bachelor degree in data science, computer science, data science, or other relevant field
  • Some professional experience preferred, although it does not need to be in an analyst role
