Nonprofit R&D lab building democratic input into AI
The Collective Intelligence Project (CIP) is a nonprofit R&D lab working to give people around the world a real say in how AI is built and governed. We ran some of the first democratic input processes for AI models with Anthropic and OpenAI, run Global Dialogues with participants from more than 70 countries, and build Weval Studio, a platform where communities and domain experts gather structured public input and turn it into evaluations AI labs can act on.
We’re hiring a mid-level full-stack engineer to turn research ideas into products people use. You’ll own well-scoped projects end to end: prototypes, research tools, LLM-powered features, and accessible interfaces, shipped alongside a small team of engineers and researchers.
You have 2+ years shipping full-stack software (TypeScript, React or Node), experience on GCP or AWS, and you use AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Cursor in your daily work.
$130k-$150k, full-time, remote in the US (SF, NYC or LA preferred). We can’t sponsor visas for this role.
