The Department of Statistics and Data Science at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track or tenured endowed professorship position (open rank), anticipated to begin August 2022. The position will carry a rank commensurate with the candidate’s demonstrated record of teaching, research, and service.

We seek faculty candidates with a background in statistical learning, artificial intelligence, or machine learning. The successful applicant must have a strong record in research that is commensurate with a tenure-track or tenured position in the Department of Statistics and Data Science at UCF.

Furthermore, the ideal candidate will be an excellent mentor who can help students master both the theoretical and practical skills needed for success in this highly interdisciplinary field. We are especially interested in an individual who can lead the effort to build a nationally recognized big data research program. The selected candidate should also contribute through their research, teaching, and service to the diversity and excellence of our academic community to foster an environment in which faculty, staff, and students from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and personal experiences are welcomed and can thrive.

A doctorate in Statistics, Data Science, or a closely related field from an accredited institution is required. In order to obtain tenure, the selected candidate must have a demonstrated record of teaching, research and service commensurate with rank. Preference will be given to candidates who have a strong record of funding, extensive experience in mentoring/supervising Ph.D. students, and have made outstanding contributions in the areas of data science, big data analytics, statistics, high-dimensional data analysis, machine learning, and/or deep learning and have a willingness to teach courses in these areas.
